roe v. wade

i ask some of the world this: what will make you listen?
we have asked politely but you have not listened
we have demanded, but demanded in the proper way, without violence, without harm, within the bounds of the law
we stand in the streets, we stand at monumental buildings and call for our rights, our values, our existence
but yet, you have not listened
what will make you listen?
do you want bloody fists, do you want the screams of pain, do you want the feeling of panic, do you want the whistling bullets you protect so fiercely?
will that make you listen?
you harm us women in threatening and taking rights to our own body and what we wish to do with it
do we need to harm you to understand? to listen? to take action?
are we still eye for an eye in this 'modern world' that this is the way you will pay attention?
or will you take our violence and weaponize it to your own agenda, calling us what women have been called for centuries
chaotic, temperamental, foolish, and needing to be put down
you will villainize us no matter what we do to make you listen
and shame on you for the rest of time for that
with that in mind,
i shall make a grave for the idea that humanity cares for its own
